Hello everyone,
I just want to inform you of a planned downtime coming on Friday, August 28 through Saturday, August 29. I am moving and will be in the process of moving my server and getting internet connection in my new location. During these two days, the website will be inaccessible. I pose a question. Has the video on the HTC Evo 4G indeed improved since the FroYo upgrade this month?

One of the first things I noticed is after I took a video (be it very long or very short), if I wanted to play it back on the phone, it would lag. This can be attributed many things, but since my phone is overall FASTER since the FroYo upgrade, and 720p video I upload to the phone work great, I figure it’s a change in the compression in the video. I also noted that there are filesize difference since the upgrade… another sign of different compression.

But these are all just theories. What’s important is the actual video.

Note that you should probably open these up in YouTube and watch it in 720p.

After several other tests here is what I’ve concluded:

• I see a slight improvement especially in graininess overall in many of my tests.
• Camera movements look and feel a little smoother
• The sound quality is generally the same.
• Indoor shots are still lower quality than outdoor shots.

This wasn’t a scientific study by any means. If I were to truly want to make sure there is a difference, I’d have to shoot the exact same object with the exact same lighting. I’ll see if I can get my nephew to do a few more rubber ducky backflips off of his pond swing the next time I’m in their neck of the woods. I’m also not 100% sure that ALL of the settings were exactly the same between the pre- and post-FroYo videos.

Until I have enough time and feel like actually giving a crap about making this far more scientific of a study, I’m gonna just go ahead and say that yes… The camera has improved. Has it improved greatly? I don’t know. Send me a higher class SD card and then we’ll REALLY be able to tell!

You know… There are a boatload of “Share” plugins out there for WordPress. There are also a couple of “Follow Me” type options, but none of them did exactly what I wanted. I just wanted a sidebar widget that listed individual icons for the following options that I have, namely Twitter, Facebook, and RSS, so I went about building a widget that did exactly that with as little click-through as possible to get it set up.

Current Version: 2.6

Due to overwhelming support on this project and the massive influx of e-mails and comments on my website, I’m going to ask that everybody now move all comments, requests, questions, and all other inquiries to my newly set up forum system.
